I collaborated with poet Nick Norwood in 2017 to create the piece Powerhouse for the city of Columbus, GA's Riverwalk. I conceptualized and designed the 110-yard poem cut from Corten steel that meanders down the walkway between the Eagle and Phenix Mills and the Powerhouses. Nick wrote the poem Powerhouse for this project. The poem has the pace and rhythm of the river and brings context and history of the location to the reader. My intention was that the viewer/ reader would stumble across the work and wonder how long it had been there. I wanted it to be subtle and part of the landscape. This sculpture invites the viewer to interact with, the place, and a poem in a way they probably never have before; they have an experience different from a book.
